Move Your Website
- Choosing your new web hosting company.
- Use the migration capability of your new webhost and follow their directions.
- Note
- Make certain that you choose the right host.
- The host that you were on had multiple cores, multiple gigabytes of memory, and 4x the amount of storage space available.
Backup
- You want to make certain you have a solid working backup on your system.
- Also, don't forget to test a restore monthly so that you know everything is working in the backup process.
Website Plugins
- There is a plugin called WP SMTP on your website that defines how outbound email is sent/forwarded to you. You will need to modify this so that your email will be delivered successfully.
- Remove the WP Main plugin as this is one of the ways we monitored your website 24x7
Move Your Domain
- Utilize the Knowledge base article at https://www.fawkesdm.com/Detail/KB/KB00134
Move Your Email
- You will need to recreate all of your email addresses and associated aliases.
- Once these are created you will log into each one and do an email migration.
- This is handled by your new mail server company.
- As with your website make certain they are backing this information up for you and see about what the restore process is.
- In most cases, this is an email asking for a specific mailbox to be restored.
Users & Passwords
- Once you are near done it is recommended to verify all users that have access and remove access from accounts that are no longer needed.
- We recommend creating all new passwords. Although we will be erasing everything from our systems it's always good to start out fresh and secure.
Finalization
- If you have any questions let us know and we will be able to help point you in the right direction for your domain.
- Let us know so we can remove all records from our system.
