Achieving Greatness

The world is bigger than we are or is it? That is a question I have pondered for many years. Like many, I have had more setbacks than I care to count. More than some while be less than others. Each set back has set me to a place that has put me where I am today. I have done not only good with my life but continue to strive for greatness. It has been, and continues to be, a personal struggle with the only competition I have; myself.

There have been many that have strived their best to set me back in my quest to do good in life over the years. They have beaten me down and I have continued to get back up. My challengers have brought others in to help their agenda as they couldn’t do it themselves. They have seen me as a threat rather than working collaboratively together to achieve greatness. The reality is the only threat they have is themselves and their feeling that they are the only ones that can be on top.

The only person that I compete against daily is myself who is ultimately my first and only competitor. Each day I strive to be better than the I was the day before. I surround myself with people that are not only better than me but help push me to greater heights. In return, I do everything I can for them in thanks for helping me become stronger and better.

Yes, I strive to improve myself and set my sites not on the growing small business but the biggest fish I can see. I don’t strive to be like them I strive to surpass them. Not by means that are bad but by means that will hopefully encourage them, and others, to become better than they are.

Becoming great is not something that comes naturally, at least for me. It is a constant struggle that I must stick to each day.  There is never a day off when you try to improve yourself. I would love to go with the status quo, but I was taught to push myself and be better than I was the day before. It is this upbringing that has defined me. From being an entrepreneur before “entrepreneur” was even a word. I know this as my first encyclopedia, which I read for bedtime stories growing up, didn’t have that word in it.

I believe there is greatness in everyone of us. I don’t believe your education, color, or upbringing define us. I believe our good deeds and our actions speak for us. I believe we can overcome anything and if we do it together we can be unbeatable. Surround yourself with those that inspire, build you up, and most importantly have a positive and good vibe about them. Don’t go with those that say they want something but go with the person that proves it day in and day out that they are truly great people.
